Esta semana quiero hacer docencia acerca de la manera de como los emprendedores podemos percibir a modo superficial nuestros ingresos. Y uno de los errores que más veo que se cometen es asociar estrictamente las ventas con las ganancias, saltándose así un intermediario súper importante que son tus “costos o gastos”.
En base a las consultas que recibo por mail y las mentorías personalizadas con mis clientes he podido analizar que este es un tema que nos puede traer algo de confusión en la práctica en nuestro día a día.
Por eso hoy, quiero compartirte acerca de 3 principios que te ayudarán a no caer en este error.
#1. Conocer cuánto vendes.
Si definimos el concepto de venta, tenemos que, venta es la acción y efecto de vender (traspasar la propiedad de algo a otra persona tras el pago de un precio convenido). El término se usa tanto para nombrar a la operación en sí misma como a la cantidad de cosas que se venden.
Por ejemplo: Si te preguntara ¿Cuánto vendiste el mes pasado?
Tendrías que irte a tu histórico de ventas y responder, el mes pasado vendí $3,500.00, este sería el monto total que facturaste.
Pero eso no significa que esos $3,500.00 sean pura ganancia, hay que hacer algunos pasos antes de saber cuanto fue realmente tu ganancia.
Lo que me lleva al siguiente punto.
#2. Tener tus costos claros.
Los costos fijos, son el tipo de costos que incurrimos con nuestro negocio todos los meses, vendamos o no vendamos.
Ejemplo de costos fijos:
- Salarios
- Electricidad
- Personal de Asistencia
- Viáticos
- Alquileres
- Compra de insumos
- Impuestos
- Internet
- Etc
Todo lo que se necesita para poner en marcha el negocio.
Pero también encontrarás otros costos, llámese costos variables, este varía dependiendo del nivel de producción del negocio. Son todos y cada uno de los costos que incurres a la hora de poder prestar tus servicios o producir tu producto.

- Ejemplo #1, si necesitas personal especializado para prestar un servicio, el pago de ese personal será un costo variable que tendrás que asumir en ese momento.
- Ejemplo #2, si eres un fotógrafo, ¿Cuáles serían los costos que asumes para ofrecer x paquete?, algunos serían:
- Pago de Primer fotógrafo.
- Edición de fotos.
- Paquete de entrega

¡Recuerda no es cuanto ganas, sino cuanto gastas! Aquí es donde está el origen de todos nuestros males, por así decirlo, que no conocemos bien cuanto gastamos. Mi recomendación, OJO con esto.
Ahora pasando al siguiente punto…
#3. Claridad en saber cuánto realmente es tu ganancia.
Creo que una de las razones más importantes por la que comenzamos a poner en marcha nuestro emprendimiento, nuestra idea de negocio, además de hacer algo que nos encanta y apasiona, es ¡Poder ganar dinero!, y puedo estar casi 100% segura que tu objetivo final es que este, se convierta en tu única o principal fuente de ingresos para tus gastos personales.
Por eso es, que entender estos tres conceptos es super importante, y en particular este último.
Comenzando como los dos primeros, quiero definir el concepto; se conoce como ganancia económica o beneficio económico a la utilidad que obtiene el actor de un proceso económico, comercial o productivo.
Puede calcularse como los ingresos totales (obtenidos por las ventas, los intereses de inversiones, etc.) menos los costos totales (gastos de producción, impuestos).
Dejando claro el concepto teórico, quiero darte un ejemplo práctico, de un negocio que vende T-shirts personalizados y que lo entrega a domicilio sin costo adicional para el cliente:
Recuerda que para que la rentabilidad sea aceptable debe ser mínimo de un 30% todo arriba de eso está bien, cuanto más sea mejor. En el ejemplo dio un 44% de ganancia.
La ganancia fue de $7.95, esto es lo que se gana la empresa al vender este T-shirt personalizado.
Importante, ¿Qué hago con esa ganancia? Va a los fondos de la empresa de donde se deben pagar todos tus gastos o costos fijos, que son los que ya te expliqué más arriba en este artículo.
Tu meta debe ser que el negocio haga la suficiente ganancia para autosostenerse y que llegue a ser rentable, muchas veces esto no se logra de la noche a la mañana, y menos cuando estás empezando, porque claro, al iniciar requieres mucha inversión para tratar de tener lo necesario para operar el negocio.
Pero debes poder al menos proyectar desde que momento podrás empezar a generar ganancia.
Mi conclusión para reflexionar y hacer los cambios que necesitas empezar hacer hoy mismo.
- Puede que vendas mucho, pero no ganas mucho.
- Puede que tus ventas estén por las nubes, pero así mismo están tus costos.
- Recuerda llevar un registro de todo, ir comparando y monitoreando tus avances.
Si aplicas y reflexionas estos 3 principios que te compartí hoy, estoy segura que podrás tener un mayor entendimiento de dónde están tus números hoy en día, y tendrás una base tomar decisiones.

Sin embargo tu pregunta creo que podría estar más orientada al retorno de esa ganancia, por tu misma política de cobro, que es al crédito. Aquí es importante que sepas justo cuánto dinero estarías recibiendo por cada período, llamese semanal, quincenal, mensual…de manera que puedas conocer con cuento dinero estarás contando por periodo para hacerle frente a tus gastos y a la vez te ayuda a identificar y responder según tus prioridades.
